Women's Hairstyles for Different Face Shapes by Zyba Salons

Ever wondered why a hairstyle that looks “Oh so gorgeous!” on your favourite actress just doesn't work the same  for you? Well it’s because we all have different face shapes that are framed well by specific styles that enhance our facial features.

Square Shaped Faces

A square-shaped face features a broad forehead, and a strong jawline. So, if you have a square face, selecting side parted styles, featuring a wide forehead complements the bone structure and rounds off the face in a more feminine way. Long and airy Layers or a short layered Bob is flattering and will help to disguise the sharp angles of the face. Adding side-swept Bangs will draw attention to the cheekbones.

Rectangle Shaped Faces

On a rectangular face, a soft layered cut should work to soften the appearance of their sharp jaw and forehead without further elongating the face while enhancing their cheekbones.

Those who wish to opt for longer lengths should try adding horizontal volume with waves or curls to frame their structured face. Soft, rounded fringes and curtain Bangs frame the face without drawing too much attention to the forehead.

Diamond Shaped Faces

A Diamond Shaped Face features a narrow forehead, prominent cheekbones and a narrow chin. For a soft yet defined look on a Diamond Shaped face one should consider a medium or long-layered cut worn with tousled waves and a deep side-part. Channel your inner Ariana Grande in a pulled back Ponytail for a look that will show off your cheekbones while also widening the appearance of your forehead.

Oval Shaped Faces

A wide variety of hairstyles suit Oval Shapes.  Opting for either long locks or a short crop enhances the appearance of facial features while delicately framing the face. A blunt Bob or Lob with subtle layers looks very chic and high fashion on these faces. Minimal layers or waves and curls on longer hair are the most recommended styles for Oval faces.

Heart Shaped Faces

For a heart shaped face, a long side-swept cut disguises part of the broad forehead while drawing attention to the bottom of your face. This style can be teamed with waves or curls starting below the ear to even out the sharp angles of the jaw. For a shorter length a side-parted Pixie cut with textured ends or a Lob will ensure fullness around the jaw giving you a more dainty look.

Here's a quick cheat sheet for which hairstyles go with which face shapes!
